2. Rakshabandhan is a popular festival celebrated across the country which symbolizes the selfless love between brothers and sisters. The word “ Raksha” means protection and “ Bandhan” means to tie. And the holy thread which offers by the sisters is a symbol of love and commitment between brother and sister.
3. According to Hindu mythology, Indrani, the wife of Lord Indra tied a thread around his wrist when he was going to fight with the demons. Further, the significance of the relationship changed and the thread was tied by sister to her brother’s wrist.
4. Raksha Bandhan is also known as Raksha Purnima, Rakhi, and Rakhi.
Raksha Bandhan is not only limited to Hindus. It is celebrated by Buddhists, Muslims, Christians, and Sikhs.
